How We Help
Fresno Community Parent Coalition (FCPC) is a parent-led organization providing student and family advocacy for Fresno families in Fresno Unified School District and authorized Charter Schools. We help parents understand their rights, navigate school systems, and speak up when something isn’t right. We help families by listening to parents’ and students’ concerns, organizing their issues effectively, standing with them as they take action, and connecting them to community resources.
We help FUSD and authorized Charter Schools honor their commitment to student-centered practices and family engagement to support their obligations under LCFF and LCAP. We achieve this by lifting parent voices, surfacing barriers, and promoting fair and consistent application of policies for all students.
Who We Are
We are parents, community advocates, educators, caregivers, and community members who believe every child in Fresno deserves a safe, supportive, and fair education. FCPC is independent from school districts and charter schools; this means our only job is to stand with students and families, not the system.
What We Do
We provide direct family advocacy support and community organizing around school issues, including:
Guiding parents through complaint processes, meetings, and follow-up so they don’t have to face the system alone.
Supporting parents when a child is being targeted, bullied, harassed, and discriminated against by students or adults.
Help families understand IEPs, 504 plans, and the services their child should be receiving.
Draft formal complaints to escalate issues within the District
Help families respond to suspensions, expulsions, and other discipline that may be unfair or harmful.
Organized Board Activities and raise community awareness.
Support parent voice in LCFF and LCAP by helping families understand budgets, plans, and how to give input effectively.
Connect families with trusted community based organizations.
Help build the “village” our students need by connecting families, schools, and community partners around student-centered solutions.
Family Voice
Parents are experts on their children and deserve to be heard.
Dignity
Every child and every family should be treated with respect, no matter their background or situation.
Equity and Justice
We focus on families and students, the system often overlooks or treats them as "nobody"; they are most harmed by unfair policies and practices.
Transparency
We help uncover the information, policies, and data that families need to make informed decisions, and we demand real transparency. No more behind-closed-doors decisions that benefit the district instead of students and families.
Community Becoming Village
Real change happens when parents move together, not alone.
